  • Many “elders” involved with obtaining tribal recognition, and the former Wampanoag Medicine Man, Luther Madison, have long been friends of mine. I look forward to reading this intriguing story based on the real life fact of a Wampanoag from Martha’s Vineyard being the first Native American to graduate from Harvard in 1665.

    • Thanks William, for the wonderful photo of the cliffs, which captures their power and beauty. The book owes everything to the environmental and cultural stewardship of the Wampanoag Tribe. I first learned of Caleb in materials the tribe published, and the tribal lands of Aquinnah are a constant source of inspiration and refreshment.

I am so looking forward to reading your new book!! Will you be teaching at any writers’ conferences this summer? Would love to take a class from you sometime. I’m at work on a historical fiction (coincidentally, a tangential theme to your new book!).

    Warm regards,
    Ginger
